State Museum for Nature and Man

The Diversity of North West Germany under one Roof

Bog people, rare finds and large as well as small animals from the region are being shown in the State Museum for Nature and Man in Oldenburg. With the three formative landscapes moor, “geest”, coast and marsh used as a starting point, unique treasures of natural and cultural history are showcased in the permanent exhibitions. Above all, it is the award-winning artistic presentation which makes the museum unique.

In a classicistic building the museum displays the results of modern research and even living animals – in the river Hunte aquarium.
The changing special exhibitions present trans-regional topics – always lively, with alternating exhibits and exciting science!

The museum is a treasure trove for the young and the old, the small and the large: events to participate in, programmes for schools and kindergarten, recreational offers, and particularly the event days, provide fun and diversion for everyone!

The State Museum for Nature and Man offers you an attractive place to spend your free time – personal guided tours through the varied and many exhibitions, theme evenings and events that are organized especially for you; or why don’t you become creative yourself and make a stone axe – to this and much more the museum would like to invite you – the museum welcomes you most cordially!
