Excursion boats on Oldenburg's waterways
Oldenburg can be explored from the water from around May to October on the popular excursion boats (Boerte Boote), which were formerly used for ferrying passengers from the island of Heligoland to the ferry ships. The boots cast off every weekend from the passenger terminal at the City Docks. During the boat trips the crew members act as tour guides and provide interesting information on the sights.
Waterway Tours on the Hunte
The Hunte river which flows through the centre of Oldenburg is an ideal route for touring with its sandy beaches, steep banks and magical woods. A waterway touring map for the Hunte can be obtained from the Naturpark Wildeshauser Geest tourist service or the Tourist Information Offices free of charge. The waterproof map shows the 40 kilometre river route with its 22 landing stages between Wildeshausen and Oldenburg. Interesting information on the Hunte and tourist tips are also available on our German website »
